Things to Do in Roatan

Roatan Nightlife

Roatan Nightlife

So, I thought I would write my post for the day about the nightlife on West End. So I stayed at the wonderful Land’s End Resort which was walking distance to West End (around 3-5 minute walk). This was the perfect location in my opinion because you were close enough to the party but also just far enough away if you wanted a romantic evening or just some down time. Staying at the resort, you could enjoy the resort’s infinity pool and bar and grill and not have to set foot in the festivities of West End if you did not want to. Now, this all goes back to what you want out of your vacation. If you want to be at the action at all times, there are local inns and hotels on the West End Strip for around $65 bucks a night. I didn’t see any  operating resorts that were on the West End, Roatan Boardwalk Street (as I explained in my last post, there are no street addresses in Roatan – so this street is not named, but I am going to call it West End, Roatan Boardwalk Street, but wanted to include that so if you go, you are not asking for the street name and secretly cursing me under your breath when someone tells you the island has no addresses…lol). I personally would not have wanted to stay at an inn or hotel on West End because I did enjoy Land’s End Resort amenities like free breakfast and live music Thursday’s, but I was also there with my husband. If I was going solo, I would stay on West End for sure so I could meet more people.  I don’t know if I can, with assurance, vouch for the safety of a female staying at an inn or hotel alone on Boardwalk St in West End – but if it means anything, I would have taken the risk had I been traveling alone.

Now before I go into much more, I want to state that I was in Roatan August 23-30th, 2014. This apparently is the SLOWEST time to go to the island because school has started back and its very hot and humid (I didn’t think it was that bad but I live in Tennessee and it gets pretty humid here as well so I am used to it). Peak season is December – April. The pro’s of going at such an off peak time were that I got to experience more establishments and meet a lot of the local owners and staff, who would not have had the time to talk to me if they had been packed during the busy season. Plus, slow or not, I could tell which places were busy and which ones were not….
